WASHINGTON, March 6 (UPI) -- A man and a woman, both wearing hockey puck-sized objects taped onto them and acting erratically, were arrested Thursday at the Capitol, authorities said.
In a brief news conference, Capitol Police Chief Terrance Gainer said officers spotted both people inside the Capitol around 1:30 p.m. dancing and chanting while a group of high school- or college-age visitors took pictures.
The man wore a robe and both he and the woman had hockey puck-sized objects taped them. Gainer said the objects appeared to be clay wrapped with duct tape,Men Nike Free 3.0, leading police to think it could have been some kind of plastic explosive. The man also had a jar filled with an unidentified liquid.
Police briefly locked down the Capitol building while they secured the area and verified that no harm had been done.
Gainer indicated the couple,Supra Vaider, whose names were not released, had been inside the Capitol building before, because officers at the scene recognized them. Apparently, they had visited the congressional visitors gallery before, perhaps by using gallery passes obtained through their home state senator or representative.
The couple did not resist when officers took them into custody, but Gainer indicated that he would seek felony charges for the incident.
