ROMULUS, Mich.,Women Nike Lunar, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Firefighters battled flames at a hazardous waste plant in suburban Detroit Wednesday after massive explosions shook the facility.
No injuries were reported when the first explosion happened at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday at the EQ Resource Recovery plant,Nike Free, near Detroit's Metro Airport.
The Romulus police department ordered a one-mile radius around the facility evacuated, which affected about 100 homes, putting about 50 people into a shelter at a high school, the Detroit News reported.
Firefighters waited for more than two hours to begin battling the fire until they learned what chemicals and substances were stored at the facility. The fire was classed as contained by daybreak Wednesday,Men Nike Free 3.0, the Detroit Free Press said.
Preliminary air samples show that "nothing of danger to human beings" was evident coming from the fire, but some witnesses reported eye irritation and a strong smell of chlorine.Topics related articles：
